About Our Baby/Toddler House

Ashland Child Development maintains a separate building for infants and toddlers. We do accept infants at six weeks and provide quiet sleeping rooms with individual cribs. Our substitute grandmothers will nurture your infants in a separate area with swings, walkers, high chairs, and of course, a rocking chair.

The care of each infant is individualized according to the parent's instructions, and parents are kept up to date on the baby's progress.

The toddlers are a bit more active and have learning/play centers. Some centers change with the theme of the seasons. The children start the day with "Circle Time", sharing with their friends and teachers. Throughout the day, they learn and play with stories, music, age appropriate art and crafts, along with activities to develop large and small motor skills.

The toddlers have their own Activities Calendar which informs parents of the emphasis for each day; and gives parents, the opportunity to open conversation and communication with their child, to better share each day.

On the days that weather permits, your children may spend some time outdoors. Perhaps you have seen our over-sized wagon (fitted with safety belts) on the way to the park. Hey, even two year olds need a change of scenery!

We have installed two security cameras in the the Baby/Toddler House so that Mr. McCaffery can monitor and be assured of your child's safety at all times.

Once a child reaches the age of three, and is potty trained, he/she will graduate to the Big Building. These times are often more difficult for the teachers than the child - they want to keep their babies to love and watch them further develop.

Open Monday - Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Infants MUST be picked up at 5:30 pm Providing breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, supper.
